During my most recent visit to the Bobcat facility in Dobris, Czech Republic, for the Demo Days event, I was fortunate enough to be shown a brief video clip telling the story of how the first Bobcat machine came to be and how the concept developed.
I have to say it really was an eye opener for me, to see how the Bobcat product has evolved since the first Keller loader in 1957, to the Melroe M200 in 1959, right up to to the latest T7X electric compact track loader that I witnessed out on the demonstration plot later in the day.
It got me thinking, that the humble Bobcat skid steer in its various formats, is often overlooked by those of us in the industry and sometimes by the wider mainstream media, which is incredible really, as they are such a useful and versatile piece of kit.
And the Bobcat is even more versatile these days, with the vast array of attachments that can be deployed on them. Our American cousins have long appreciated these machines, in what is their spiritual home country and it is not hard to see why.
